Waterford artist, Christine O'Brien Shanahan, has been painting and creating art works since graduating from art college in 1985. Christine taught art privately, in secondary schools and on a number of youth development programmes until the mid 1990s. Christine and partner Sound artist miXile started web site design company concept in 1992, supporting the arts in Waterford through continuing sponsorship of art, music, film, theatre and comedy festivals over the years. With paintings and photographs in private collections locally and abroad, the landscape continues to be an integral element in her work, with themes of place and time recurring. Chris worked as an art craft and design teacher both privately and in secondary schools. At times teaching pottery and running a photography club. In mid 1980s she worked as art tutor in a number of government sponsored community and co-operative development programmes, facilitating early school leaver programmes. Chris gave private art classes up to 1996. |
